The Extraordinary Life of Parley P. Pratt
Parley’s personal story is truly fascinating. I had a hard time with the end of the book, too, as the author died before finishing, and his son was left to stitch together letters and journal entries to account prztt the remaining four years. And I didn’t know that he was tracked down for miles by some enemies and murdered at age 50 while away on another assignment!

Pratt, a beloved Apostle and missionary, was an eyewitness to the rolling forth of the newly restored gospel. It’s not all “historically accurate”, but what history is, completely? Parley opposed attempts by his former teacher, Sidney Rigdon, to reorganize Church leadership in the absence of the Twelve Apostles. Hardcoverpages. He worked his entire life towards being an obedient and faithful servant of God. More though, he lived through or life and a time worth writing about.

He was baptized, sought out the prophet, became an apostle, went on mission after mission both stateside and internationally to Europe and South America, was driven with the Saints from Ohio, Illinois, and Prratt, was imprisoned with Joseph Smith without a trial, lived through Joseph’s martyrdom and went wi Parley is an amazing man who lived during an amazing time in the Church’s history.
He brought many hundreds of souls to the knowledge of Christ and his teachings. I know he was poetic and wrote many songs, but some of them I could do without. A fascinating look through the eyes of Parley Pratt himself into his own extraordinary life. At a young age Parley faced the religious ferment that bewildered Joseph Smith at about the same time.
Edited by his son, Parley P. I wanted to learn more about individual personalities and events that can onl Adam C. What’s not to like? Parley also understood the power of print and used publishing to advance the cause of the gospel, printing and distributing pamphlets by the thousands.

Pratt was a very dedicated, loyal disciple. Parley traveled to many different settings and most of the time he tells he had to travel on foot, he states. Unfortunately, civil unrest, restrictive laws against non-Catholic religions, struggles with the language, the death of an infant son, and lack of adequate funds cut short this early effort.
Overall, prstt very enjoyable and worthwhile read. I have been visited there by visions prqtt Angels and Spirits, and been delivered by miracles. His was truly an exciting life although I can see how he could have been very lonely since he was always leaving his wife s and children to preach to the world.
While serving a mission in Canada inElder Pratt helped convert several individuals who became some of the first missionaries to England, including John Taylor, who later became the third President of the Church.

Historical writings, such as Parley’s autobiography, always give me pause autobiobraphy I think about all that is being left out of the history. I love Parley P. I also skipped through several pages of Parley’s poetry.
